Flowers in my hair
Our maid often brings me flowers to wear in my hair. They are jasmine flowers and they smell lovely all day.
Sometimes she brings them to me already tied together like this, but once she brought a handful of loose flowers and tied them here in front of me. She clearly has a lot of practice at doing it – the whole thing took her about 30 seconds.
It is pretty common to see women wearing lengths of flowers in their hair. Most women have very long hair and wear it in a plait down the centre of their back. They then clip the flowers to the back of their hair and the flowers cascade down the plait. Sometimes just one strand, sometimes two.
As my hair used to be layered when it was shorter, it won’t really stay in that kind of plait – the shorter layers just fall out and it becomes a mess. But it’s too hot to wear your hair down here, so I normally tie mine back in a ponytail (which seems to even the layers a bit) and then plait the ponytail. I then clip the flowers to the top of the ponytail so they cascade down the back of the plait.
