Our new home
The apartment we ended up taking was actually the very first one we saw in Hyderabad. It is in a complex called Greenwood Residency in the northeast of Secunderabad, between Yapral and Kowkoor:
If I zoom in on the area itself, you can see that it is much less developed that most of Hyderabad:
None of the streets immediately surrounding have been built on yet, so the area is very quiet. Most of the area to the left is part of the military cantonments and so is very sparsely developed.
The complex itself is still under construction although the two main blocks are completed and the structural work has been done on the other block:
It does have some pretty nice amenities, including a pool, gym, library, general store and function room as well as kid’s playgrounds, creche, tennis, badminton and basketball courts.
The aspect is very rural. Our apartment faces east, and from our window we can see rice paddies and grape vines:
So far, our apartment is pretty bare. For the first four nights all we had was a mattress on the floor. We don’t even have any hot water cylinders installed yet – we are having showers with a bucket and an immersion heater.
Our washing machine arrived at midnight last night (along with the AC) and this afternoon our fridge arrived so we are getting there slowly. We are still in the process of furniture shopping so will post more updates as we acquire more.
