It is truely amazing, I think a lot of the times we do this without thinking!
I used to be so busy and constantly being inundated with calls and emails, there’s not much time for procrastination but think of how to do the same thing faster!
Slowly, I have more time to think, slowly I have more difficult tasks to do that requires me to engage more parts of my brain. Sometimes it feels like if I think too much, it will hurt, so it is easier to avoid those tasks and do the simpler things first. Also picked up the habit of responding to emails very “promptly” by constantly checking it.
And if there’s nothing new and I really don’t want to do that tasks on hand… check to see if anyone is online to talk to, check to see if the weather report has changed…
Boy I knew I used to procrastinate bad with studying and assignments, although I do have my assignments all finished and printed the day before it is due after Semester 1 in 2nd year. But still, I put it off for as long as I can. It gets worse when I was studying PG.
So, that flowchart for me is like…. hey wait.. doh that’s what I do! Doh! Although I do know I do procrastinate as I have more “difficult” tasks to do now, I don’t know why I avoid them, even though most of the time, if I just get on with it, it usually turns out to be easier than I thought they are…
Oh well… such is life.
